Buffalo Bill's museum

Last week I went up to Lookout Mountain, CO. I happened to drive through Golden, CO and drove right by the main office for Love and Logic Institute. (My favorite parenting resource)
I ended up at a state park where the views were beautiful. Then I visited the Buffalo Bill's museum and grave site. His claim to fame was that he ran a Wild West touring show. It was the precursor to today's rodeo. He featured trained horse tricks, roping shows, sharpshooting shows (Annie Get Your Gun is a movie about Annie Oakley, who travelled with Buffalo Bill and could shoot those shells you throw in the air while standing on her head...or some such trick)
Click on my photos tab to see the three other images I've uploaded from that day. There is one other moutain landscape, a butterfly close up, and a view of Denver from Buffalo Bill's grave.

Beautiful view, Ms. Jessica….and the other pics are cool, as well. Like the butterfly!
I always did like the movie Annie Get Your Gun. Kinda silly, but you know….. Did you go by yourself or with your whole family?
What a lovely surprise, Centria, you're online! I was just reading your poem (well, The Moment's poem…) and your advice on sadness. I came back to do just what you said on the phone that you also get sucked into doing; checking if there are any pageviews on my last post! Ha; so hard to avoid the ego!
I never saw Annie Get Your Gun, but the museum has a poster of it inside. It features Marilu Henner, and I only know her from her current cable tv show about living a positive, fit, fun, aware, beautiful life. I think it's just called Marilu. I took a picture of the poster, do you want to see it?
I went by myself. It was actually kind of a revenge “trip to the mountains” played out in the family dynamics between my husband and me. He hadn't returned home the night before and neglected to call me. So I returned the “favor” and took off for a fun day by myself. I'm quite fully capable of having fun all by myself, thank you! Well, I took my two year old son, so I wasn't by myself. You should have seen me pushing that stroller up the rocky hiking paths! Not so graceful!
Ha ha you got sucked in ! Aren't we funny human creatures? Well I'm sorry you guys had a disagreement, but it's cool that you were able to take off and find some fun for yourself. I'm picturing you and your son going up those rocky paths with that stroller. No, it couldn't have been very graceful. Hard to be graceful even by oneself!
I don't remember Marilu Henner, but maybe that's who was in the movie I saw. I just remember the songs and singing wildly & crazily along. What were some of those songs? Hmmmm, if I think long enough something might come back…..
Have been at the local Pow wow three times this weekend. Fun visiting with old friends. But glad to be home now and checkin' all the blogs on Gaia. You take care, Ms. Jessica! so good to “see” you today!
I prepared that image of the poster of Marilu Henner. It's in my photos tab.

Marilu is now really big into fitness. Here is her bio on marilu.com. Looks like she was in a broadway production of Annie Get Your Gun, not in a movie. But she's been in plenty movies!

I saw it! Thanks for posting it. Interesting she's into fitness. My husband is apparently trying to get me into fitness right now because he wants me to go out and help him move the wood splitter. We were splitting wood between Pow wow visits this weekend. (Do you think Buffalo Bill ever split firewood?)
Oh yeah, he probably even had Annie Oakley help him! They travelled from Colorado down to Oklahoma to put on their show in the late 1800's. I guess they just set up camp wherever they were.
But I'm not familiar with a wood splitter machine that you need to be strong to move. As far as I know, you take an old log, use it as a base, insert a spike into it and use the mallet to jam your small piece of wood onto the spike and split it. Do you have a large machine?
We have so many comments here this will probably be on the community page soon! :)
Actually it's a gas-powered woodsplitter borrowed from a friend. You put the log on and pull a lever and the wedge pushes the log against a heavy plate and splits it in two. Very motorized, yet handy.
I was thinking our exchange here was like having “chat”. Now why doesn't Gaia have a chat feature so we can talk to everyone in real time? Wouldn't that be cool?
